Well i'd just like to say a big thank you to Stevie for organising the event, It couldn't have been better. :D 8)

A big shout out to all the mtb-thrashers who I've now met and can put faces to names. I hope to see you all on the next trip to Coedy.
Also a big well done to Volker and Tim, :D who didn't know what they where letting themselves in for, hope you guy's enjoyed it, and you'll be back for more.

But I'm sure we all feel the same, that it was a big disappointment that Jon couldn't be there to share in the fun, we were thinkin of ya, honest

now it's time to award the weekend Muppet award.

Will you vote for Rob, who locked the bikes up on the bike rack, then forgot the key,
or
Stevie, for forgetting he had the key to the cabin and leaving four of his mates outside in the cold, whilst he was having a nice drink in the 'Bikers Retreat'.

I'm voting for me :)

At least Rob remembered to go back for the key fairly quickly. I must have left the guys locked out for a good 20 minutes at least!

Although it was amusing watching Rich having to down his drink after consuming a 32 ounce steak ... the rest of us only had small cokes ;)

yeah, cheers for that steve, after tiger prawns, a 32oz steak, chips, onion rings, mushrooms, salad, ketchup, ice cream and 3 bottles of bud, downing a pint of tetley's really quick, wasn't the cure i was looking for :?

hope everyone had a great weekend, i know i did. just got quoted £1150 for an Orange 222 frame, how tempting  J E James Sheffield have said the crank i was originally sold by Chesterfield is a XC crank, and they said they would let me have a DMR DH crank(BB incl.) and chainring for half price, but that still comes to £80 :?

222? crikey!!

straight-in to full suspension with the current dh world championship-winning frame

retail for the vanilla rc version is £1399 so 1150 is a good price!

Wow Rich no hanging around there then mate. You would become crazy fast with a steed like that. I wouldn't like to be in front of you in a decent.

I've been checking out knee/shin pads now as a result of the Coedy trip as it has inspired me to push myself harder downhill. I'll have to wait a while though as I'm too knackered at the moment to go near my bike. I had to catch the bus to work today. Back on my racer  tomorrow I suppose

As for the muppetry award I was just too excited that the key became insignificant. However my incident caused delays in riding but stevies caused much amusement :D

If you want to put photos up in the gallery, just click on the gallery link and then the 'submit media' link at the top. Alternatively, the following link should work:

http://www.mtb-thrashers.com/index.php?module=My_eGallery&do=upload

The category should be: Rides > mtb-thrashers on tour > CyB March 2003

I suppose this only strengthens my position as undisputed muppet of the weekend, but I think I lost my pump

I have a feeling that I put it down while fixing a puncture on the MBR, but ended up using Volker's since it's much faster. I think that I then must have left my mini pump on the ground when we moved on. Doh :!:

And how are you feeling now Jon :?:

I didn't take any, cos I'm dim and forgot to charge my camera. I'm also lazy or absentminded because I didn't bother charging it ready for Saturday either :stupid:

Still, I did take a few with Michael's camera and he probably took the most of anyone. Put a bit of pressure on and do the whole guilt trip and I know he'll crack

Volker didn't take many, but apparently they might be going on to the site this weekend :D

i've uploaded the photos jon, using the submit images link. thanks Jon. it took me bloody ages to upload these photos cos of the antique technology known as modem! :x

sorry folks for not uploading the photos earlier, but i have been on a FIRST AID training course for the week and i have past it with flying colours on Friday. so now Richie, you don't have to worry if you crash into a tree and you heart stops beating because in theory, i should be able to resuscitate you and give you a big sloppy kiss of life. However, if any you get Hypovoleamic shock or Nerogenic shock or Cardiogenic shock or Anaphylatic shock, then i will have to you leave you there in the mountain cos i've failed that part ..... just joking

thanks paul for you info on full face helmet. i'm getting the mag today to read up on review.

Hi guys,

I finally managed to make it on to this site!

It was a fantastic trip and I can't wait to go again! The first ride on Friday was quite a shock to the system and I don't think Stevie had described the place adequately before  I've still got the bruises from my little tumble as well!!!

Anyway, Saturday was great! Thank you all for your tips and tricks and in particular Rob for getting me to ride down that one steep section!

I've got few piccies which I'll upload - there's a good one of Rich looking very pleased with himself!

hello Volker, and welcome to the site :D

i'm glad you enjoyed yourself once you'd got over the initial shock of the terrain

just a little reminder to people that it'd be helpful if you could upload images no larger than 640x480.

Thanks for the piccies Michael :)
There are a decent number of them in there, including a few ride shots ... and more food shots :)

I just thought I should probably clarify that the descriptions (snide remarks) are mine and not Volker's words

If you feel that any of them are unfair, you can direct flames my way .... not that I will take any notice of them
